General Meeting — Monday, March 8, 2010 at 7:30pm at Looma Hall, Speakers:  Rusty & Jane Hurl, speaking on the annual “Wild Pink Yonder” summer trail and wagon ride to raise money for cancer research in Alberta.  The ride starts in Waterton Lake Aug 14 and ends in Sherwood Park Sept 14.  Riders can join the ride for a day, a week or the entire journey.

 

Tack Sale — Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 10am-2pm at Looma Hall.  Contact Barb to book a table.  If you put a few items on the club table, but you must stay and help.

 

Trail Ride and Chili Lunch @ the Lawrence Acreage – March 21, 2010

Ride out at noon for about 2 hours.  Bring blankets to put on horses so they can wait tied to trailers while we go in the house for chili and a social.  Chili, salad and hot drinks will be provided, please bring any other beverages and a dessert to share.   Everyone is welcome to join us for chili and a social in the house after even if you don’t ride.  Everyone coming for chili please call Vicki 780-922-2227 and If its cold and you aren’t sure if the ride is on, or you need directions she can give you those also.  Contact Vicki if you can help by making CHILI.

 

General Meeting — Monday, April 12, 2010 at 7:00pm at Good News Riding Centre, Trainer Paul Dufresne, from Kelowna, BC, will be doing a demonstration on “Training for Courage.”

 

Showmanship & Trail Clinic — Saturday April 17 at Rafter Diamond K, with Ken and Kerri-lee Schmuland.  2 half day clinics, potluck lunch, call 449-0749 to register by April 12.  Clinic is free CLSC members, however donations greatfully will be accepted for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Calgary.  $40 for non-members.

Members Only FUN HORSE SHOWS — Sunday, April 18, June 6, Sept 26, 2010

April show will be at Blackland Ranch and May & September shows will be at Fultonvale Outdoor Arena.  Click here for 2010 pre-regiatration, sign waiver and pay $20 entry fee at show.  Junior—13 & under, Intermediate-14-16, Senior 17-39, Jack Benny 40+.  Rosette Ribbons and High Point Trophies at every show and year end for those attending all 3 shows for Performance and Gymkhana classesThanks to Nigel Bennett for designing and running the computer program for show results and pre-registration, and all the other volunteers that help with the show.  We will be renting the Colchester Crusaders 4-H Clubs automatic timers for the gymkhana events.  Linda Finstad of A Sharper Image Photography will be at our shows this year, taking pictures that will be available to purchase off her website.

2010 MAY LONG WEEKEND Camping and Trail Riding at Horse Creek Ranch May 21-24, 2010

Bring your horse and camper or tent, or rent a horse or cabin.  Bathrooms/showers are provided, as well as a heated shop for evening gatherings and pens for horses.  Pens are limited and Siebe doesn’t want horses tied to trailers overnight, so book early.  To make collecting money easier for Seibe this year you must pay ahead for the weekend so we can give him one cheque.  To go on  Barb's list, you must give her a cheque, payable to the CLSC post dated May 1 (please put on cheque what its for).  If you want to just come ride for the day, you are also welcome to join us.  Bring your own horse feed and water buckets.  Costs for the weekend (+GST) are $18/horse, $18/dog (brought with ranch permission-see attached new rules), $18/person & $18/rig, $18/power and water hookups (15 available).  For cabin rentals, contact Siebe directly at 1-888-699-6099 or visit www.horsecreekranch.ca.

Potluck BBQ & Party Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Colchester Stables (Keith & Donna Dreger’s)

Please join us for a social gathering ready to swim in the heated outdoor pool at 4pm and ready to eat at 6pm.  Apart from the meat, which can go on the BBQ, all potluck dishes must be pre-heated or cold dishes, as we will not have access to kitchen facilities.  Things to bring:  plates, cutlery, chair, meat to BBQ, potluck dish (finger food, salad or desert), beverage, swimming suit/towel (change rooms available).  Please note there is no club meeting in June.
