General Meeting — Monday, April 14, 2008 meeting at 7:00pm, demonstration at 7:30pm. Paul Dufresne will be doing an informal demonstration of training techniques and tricks his horses can do, as well as some students with their horses at Good News Riding Centre, just south of Looma Hall, first right south of the tracks on Hwy 21 (north of Hwy 625).

Members Only FUN HORSE SHOWS — Sunday, May 4, June 1, Sept 28, 2008 New for 2008, Rosette Ribbons and High Point Awards at every show for Performance and Gymkhana classes! To speed up the morning registration process, please click on the show registration form and fill it out and e-mail directly to Nigel Bennett, so your entry information can be put into the computer 1-2 weeks prior to the horse show. Forms must be signed and entry fee paid the morning of the show. Remember, no club memberships are sold on the day of the show. Colchester Crusaders, Looma Lights and Rafter Rough Riders 4-H are members of the CLSC.
ATRA 30th Annual TRAIL RIDE AGAINST CANCER — Saturday, May 10, 2008 Aquarius Ranch in Bruderheim. Overnight camping available, breakfast, lunch and BBQ supper. For more information and pledge forms go to the ATRA website. General Meeting — Monday, May 12, 2008
2008 MAY LONG WEEKEND Camping and Trail Riding at Horse Creek Ranch Bring your horse and camper or tent, or rent a horse or cabin. Bathrooms/showers are provided, as well as a heated shop for evening gatherings. THIS TRIP IS FULL, if you aren’t on Barb’s list there will be nowhere to put your horse, and Siebe doesn’t want horses tied to trailers overnight. Bring your own horse feed at water buckets. Cost is $5/horse, $5/person & $5/rig per night and new this year, for an extra $7.50/night you can there are limited sites available with power and water. Potluck BBQ & Party — Saturday, June 14, 2008 (No June Meeting) Please join us for a social gathering — ready to swim in the heated outdoor pool at 4pm and ready to eat at 6pm. Apart from the meat, which can go on the BBQ, all potluck dishes must be pre-heated or cold dishes, as we will not have access to kitchen facilities to reheat anything. Things to bring: plates, cutlery, chair, meat to BBQ, potluck dish (finger food, salad or desert), beverage, swimming suit/towel (change rooms available).
SUMMER MOUNTAIN RIDES, 2008 — Alberta Trail Riding Association (ATRA) is organizing some mountain camping trips/trail rides in the summer and September Long Weekend. See their website for dates and locations.
BARN DANCE & BBQ Potluck, Friday, September 19, 2008 At Dave & Vicki Lawrence’s Barn, (51238 RR 221, just South of Hwy 14), arrive at 6pm, BBQ at 7pm, bring your own meat, plates, cutlery, cold drinks and something for the potluck. Murray will be help teach some square dancing!
ANNUAL POKER RIDE for STARS — Sunday, September 21, 2008 Bring your horse and experience a guided trial ride through the beautiful Ministik Bird Sanctuary. Enjoy the wilderness without going to the mountains (horse shoes not needed). Pack a lunch and come prepared for a 4-5 hour getaway. $5 per person allows you to draw 5 cards for a poker hand and possibly take home some winnings. (You may increase your odds of winning by buying more than one hand). Meet at 10:00 am to saddle, register and draw your first card. Ride out at 11:00 am. A BBQ will follow ($1 for Hot Dogs and $1 for pop) This walking trail ride is for intermediate riders and trustworthy horses. A waiver will need to be signed. No smoking or drinking on the trail. When gravel road doesn’t go south anymore (about 3.5 miles, at Twp Rd 504A) look for the staging area. |
